Egypt visa for US citizens

Egypt visa for us citizens

In this article, you get information regarding how can a U.S. citizen apply for visa to enter Egypt.

Passport and Visas:

  • To enter Egypt, US citizens must obtain a visa. You have to decide the type of visa for you based on your purpose of travell.
  •  Visa Fee $25 USD: US citizens can obtain a renewable single-entry 30-day tourist visa at Egyptian airports. A multiple-entry visa can also be obtained for $60 USD.
  • You can use the Government website of Egypt for the issuance of “e-visas.” There are other websites claiming to offer electronic visas, some of which are reportedly charging twice the official price, but this is the only official Government of Egypt portal for this service. Citizens of the United States and 44 other countries are eligible to apply in advance of their travel.
  • U.S. citizens who have had problems with their visa status in Egypt or are concerned about their eligibility for a visa upon arrival should apply for a visa at an Egyptian embassy or consulate prior to travel; however, obtaining a visa prior to entry does not guarantee admission to Egypt.
Prior to travel, visas for employment or study in Egypt must be obtained.

Exit Requirements:

  • Women from the United States who are married to Egyptians do not need their spouse’s permission to leave Egypt as long as they have a valid Egyptian visa or passport.
  • A US citizen leaving Egypt with a dual-national child (US-Egyptian) may be asked by Egyptian immigration officers at the airport to show proof of consent from the non-traveling Egyptian parent.
  • If travelers attempt to leave Egypt after their visa has expired, they may be fined at the airport. Travelers should arrive at the airport early and with enough Egyptian currency to pay any fines.
The US Embassy does not issue exit visas for Egypt.
