How to find a job in Uganda?

To find a job in Uganda, you can start from ugandajob and Reliefweb. You can look for recruitment agencies or employment agencies in Uganda. And you can look for jobs also on Facebook groups in Uganda. Everyone who wants to get a job in Uganda needs first to look for a job in Uganda.

Uganda is part of the Economic Community of West African States, ECOWAS. Cape Verde, Gambia, Guinea, Guinea-Bissau, Liberia, Mali, Senegal, and Sierra Leone are all ECOWAS Zone A member states. Benin, Burkina Faso, Ghana, Ivory Coast, Niger, Nigeria, and Togo are all ECOWAS Zone B member states.

Once you find a job, you may need a work permit. You can do this from abroad or in Uganda. Uganda citizens, residents, and most ECOWAS nationals don’t need a work permit to get a job. In most cases, every other nationality must apply for a work permit. You can do this together with your new employer or employment agency. You can find a job in Uganda by searching online for job opportunities in Uganda. You can find a job either with a company, with a recruitment agency, or through an employment agency.

Uganda citizens, and residents, do not need a work permit to find a job. In most cases, every other nationality wants to apply for a work permit to work with regular documents.

Job websites in Uganda

Many job websites can help you find work in Uganda. Some focus on certain professions and industries. A good start is to search for a job on these popular job websites.

BaiduGoogleNaverSogouYandex, or any other search engine, can be a good start for a job search. You can search for a job that you want. For example, ‘Construction worker in Kampala’ or ‘Babysitter in Mbale.’ Use the language that you feel most comfortable speaking. Don’t stop at the first pages and go deep with your search. You’ll get an immediate feeling of what’s around and of which job websites are best suited for your needs.

Google MapsBaidu MapsNaver Maps2GIS, or any other map app, can help you find employers near you or abroad. Look for the kind of organization that might have job opportunities for you. You can look for “Retail in Kampala” or “Mall in Mbale” for example.

Facebook groups can also be an option to start to see what’s around you. You can search for Facebook groups that talk about Uganda or jobs.

Recruitment agencies in Uganda

You can look up a recruitment agency that can help you. You can type “recruitment agency near Kampala ” on Google Maps or any other map app. There you can find a list of relevant agencies that you can contact. You can search your area for local recruitment agencies if you are not in Uganda. They can help you find a job in Uganda.

Be aware that you should not pay an agency when they find a job for you. So be careful when an agency asks you for money.

Ask around you for jobs in Uganda

Speak with any person who may have traveled or worked in Uganda. You will see that some of your friends or family know someone who knows someone. Ask around, and find opportunities among your contacts.

To find a job in Uganda, look at local newspapers, bulletin boards, radio, and word of mouth. Local radio and newspapers are good sources of information about jobs in Uganda.

You can search for companies and local businesses in Uganda. An easy tool for doing this is any map app map.  Below is, for example, a Google Maps search for ‘factory near Kampala’.

Walk around anywhere in Uganda for possible jobs

If you are somewhere in Uganda, you can explore the area and see what job opportunities are around you. You can look for organizations and businesses around you and visit them. For example, below is a search on Google Maps for ‘market near Mbarara.’ You can visit these places to ask for job opportunities.

Search for employment schemes

You can apply for an employment scheme or an employment support program to help you find a job. Those programs can be local or national. They can be open only to Uganda residents, but they can also be available to foreigners. You can search for ” Uganda employment scheme” or ” Uganda employment program.” You can search for employment schemes at your local government or embassy.
