Additionally, it is important to note that passports must be valid for at least 6 months starting from the date of entry into Egypt.
How to get a tourist visa in Egypt?
Egypt is the Middle East’s most welcoming country to visitors, offering a wide range of unique experiences that cater to all types of travelers.
You can get an Egyptian visa upon arrival at Cairo International Airport or via the official e-visa portal of the Egyptian Government. This covers residents of Australia, New Zealand, the European Union, the United States, Canada, and Russia. A single entrance visa is valid for 3 months from the date of issue and allows the holder to stay in Egypt for 1 month.
Citizens of EU nations, the US, and Israel (via Taba Border Crossing) can travel to specific Egyptian resorts without a visa in advance. The resorts include Sharm El Sheikh, Dahab, Nuweiba, and Taba. Travelers staying at resorts in Egypt will receive a free entry permission stamp upon their arrival, which allows them to stay for a maximum of 14 days.
Travelers from all other countries can obtain a Sinai resort visa upon arrival at designated airports such as Sharm el-Sheikh, Saint Catherine, or Taba. This visa is valid for 15 days, except for citizens of 81 specific countries and territories. If travelers want to explore areas beyond the Sinai resorts and visit other parts of Egypt, they need to obtain a visa.
How to apply for an Egypt online visa?
To apply for an Egypt online visa, you need to follow these steps:
- Visit the official website of the Egyptian e-Visa portal.
- Click on the “Apply for e-Visa” and select your country of citizenship and the type of visa you need.
- Fill out the application form with your personal and travel information to apply for the Egypt online visa.
- Upload a scanned copy of your passport and a passport-style photograph.
- Pay the visa fee using a valid credit or debit card.
- After submitting your application, you need to wait for the authorities to process your visa.
Once your visa is approved, you will receive an email with an electronic visa (e-Visa) attached. Print out the e-Visa and present it to the immigration officer upon arrival in Egypt.
Can I obtain a visa on arrival in Egypt?
Except for nationals of the 81 countries and territories, citizens of any country may acquire a visa on arrival to Egypt valid for 30 days, according to data given by the Egyptian government to IATA.
Belgians, French, Germans, Italians, and Portuguese can enter with a national ID card. They must provide a passport photo to attach to the visa. Malaysian citizens, according to IATA, can remain for 15 days with a visa on arrival.
If you are a citizen of Turkey and fall under the age range of 20 years or below, aged 45 years or above, or possess a residency permit that has been issued by Australia, Canada, the USA, or a member state of the EU, then you are eligible to obtain a visa upon arrival.
Sudanese citizens can receive a visa on arrival residence permit from Australia, Canada, the United States, or an EU Member State.
For chinese citizens, they can obtain a visa on arrival by traveling with an authorized tourist group consisting of more than 5 members. Alternatively, if they have proof of a hotel reservation at a 4-5 star hotel, sufficient cash amounting to more than 2000 USD and a return ticket, they can also obtain a visa upon arrival.
Travellers who have not previously filed for a visa must need to:
- Wait in the line designated for visa on arrival applicants.
- Complete the visa application form and submit the required documents.
- Pay the fee for the visa on arrival using cash.
- Affix the Egypt visa sticker onto your passport.
